Gyeonggi Provincial Council Operations Committee Chair Jang Han-byeol Takes First Step in National Provincial Council Cooperation

Jang Han-byeol, Chair of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council Operations Committee (Democratic Party, Suwon District 4), attended the 12th Term First Half Regular Session of the Republic of Korea Provincial Council Operations Committee Chairs Conference held in Sejong Special Autonomous City on the 24th.

This regular session was the first official meeting held following the launch of the 12th term first half conference, with operations committee chairs from all 16 provincial councils nationwide gathering to elect a chair to lead the conference.

Chair Jang participated in conference activities for the first time since taking office as operations committee chair of Gyeonggi Provincial Council, sharing current issues in local council operations and jointly discussing ways to strengthen cooperation among provincial councils nationwide.

Chair Jang Han-byeol congratulated Shin Min-ho, the newly inaugurated chair of the Jeonnam·Gwangju Integrated Special City Operations Committee, stating, "Following the comprehensive revision of the 'Local Autonomy Act,' we have achieved external growth, but there are pressing common tasks ahead that we must tackle together, including substantial enhancement of authority such as organizational independence, budget autonomy, and audit powers." He added, "Gyeonggi Provincial Council will also serve as a reliable collaborator and partner to Chairman Shin Min-ho, and taking responsibility as the nation's largest local council, we will take the lead in advancing local councils and strengthening local autonomy and decentralization."

The Republic of Korea Provincial Council Operations Committee Chairs Conference is a working consultation body under the Republic of Korea Provincial Council Chairs Conference, engaging in consultation on common issues related to the operations of provincial councils nationwide and working to discover institutional improvement tasks to promote the development of local councils and strengthen local autonomy and decentralization.
