Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly's Operation Committee Chair Jang Han-byeol Takes First Step in National Provincial Assembly Cooperation
Jang Han-byeol, Operation Committee Chair of Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly (Democratic Party, Suwon District 4), attended the 12th First Regular Meeting of the Council of Operation Committee Chairs of Provincial Assemblies held in Sejong Special Self-Governing City on the 24th.
This regular meeting was the first official session held since the launch of the 12th council, where operation committee chairs from all 16 provincial assemblies across the nation gathered to elect a chair to lead the council.
Chair Jang participated in council activities for the first time since taking office as operation committee chair of Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly, sharing current issues in local assembly operations and jointly discussing ways to strengthen cooperation among provincial assemblies nationwide.
Chair Jang Han-byeol congratulated Shin Min-ho, newly inaugurated as Operation Committee Chair of Jeollanam-do·Gwangju Integrated Special City, stating, "Following the comprehensive revision of the 'Local Autonomy Act,' external growth has been achieved, but there are numerous shared tasks that must be addressed together for substantive strengthening of powers, such as organizational independence, budget independence, and audit authority independence." He added, "As a reliable collaborator and partner of Chair Shin Min-ho, Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly will take the lead in advancing local assemblies based on the sense of responsibility as the nation's largest local assembly."
The Council of Operation Committee Chairs of Provincial Assemblies is a working organization under the Council of Heads of Provincial Assemblies, which works toward the development of local assemblies and strengthening of local autonomy by deliberating on common issues related to the operation of provincial and city assemblies nationwide and discovering institutional improvement tasks.
