'Saebit Youth Zone Geared to Transit Stations' Gaining Popularity…2,010 Applications for 151 Units

Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-joon) announced that for recruitment of residents for Saebit Youth Zone Geared to Transit Stations, Phase 4 and Phase 1, a total of 2,010 applicants applied for 151 units, achieving an average competition rate of 13.3 to 1.

Newly supplied Phase 4 (Ingye-dong, Paldal-gu) saw 1,855 applicants for 141 units with a dedicated area of 26㎡, recording a competition rate of 13.2 to 1, while Phase 1 (Gwonseon-dong, Gwonseon-gu), which filled vacancies, received 155 applicants for 10 units, reaching a competition rate of 15.5 to 1.

This is the highest competition rate since the Saebit Youth Zone Geared to Transit Stations recruitment began. Previous competition rates were 7 to 1 for Phase 1 (Gwonseon-dong) in 2023, 4 to 1 for Phase 2 (Seryu-dong) in 2024, and 7 to 1 for Phase 3 (Ingye-dong) in 2025.

Reflecting recommendations from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the application age limit was expanded from the existing 34 years and under to 39 years and under, and the increased applications appear to be linked to the supply of affordable rental housing in transit-oriented areas amid growing housing cost burdens for young people.

Saebit Youth Zone is a youth housing support project promoted in accordance with the 'Suwon Youth Customized Housing Support Business Agreement' concluded between Suwon City and the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH). Suwon City recruits residents for LH's transit-oriented youth rental housing according to its own criteria, while LH handles contracts and housing management.

Suwon City will verify applicants' eligibility for residency, including income and assets, by November 19, and will announce the winners and alternative residents on the Suwon City website on November 20. LH will provide separate notice of contract and move-in schedules.
