'Transit Zone Saebil Youth Hub' Draws Massive Response…2,010 Applicants for 151 Units

Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) recruited residents for the Transit Zone Saebil Youth Hub Phase 4 and Phase 1, with 2,010 applicants for 151 units, recording an average competition rate of 13.3 to 1.

The newly supplied Phase 4 (Ingye-dong, Paldal-gu) received 1,855 applications for 141 units with a dedicated area of 26 square meters, recording a 13.2 to 1 competition rate, while Phase 1 (Gwonseon-dong, Gwonseon-gu), which filled vacant units, received 155 applications for 10 units, reaching a 15.5 to 1 competition rate.

This is the highest competition rate since the Transit Zone Saebil Youth Hub recruitment began. Previous competition rates were 7 to 1 for Phase 1 (Gwonseon-dong) in 2023, 4 to 1 for Phase 2 (Seryudonge) in 2024, and 7 to 1 for Phase 3 (Ingye-dong) in 2025.

Reflecting recommendations from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the application age was expanded from the existing 34 years old or younger to 39 years old or younger. In the situation where housing costs for young adults have increased, the supply of affordable rental housing in transit zones appears to have led to the increase in applications.

The Saebil Youth Hub is a youth housing support project pursued under the 'Suwon Youth Customized Housing Support Cooperation Agreement' concluded between Suwon City and Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH). Suwon City recruits residents for LH's transit-zone youth rental housing by its own standards, while LH handles contracts and housing management.

Suwon City will verify the application qualifications including income and assets of applicants by November 19, and announce the successful applicants and provisional residents on the Suwon City website on November 20. LH will provide a separate notice regarding contract and move-in schedules.
