Jang Dong-hyuk: "Victory with Majority in 2028 General Election" ... Declares 'People Power 2.0'

Jang Dong-hyuk, chairman of the People Power Party, unveiled 'People Power 2.0,' a party reform plan aimed at strengthening party member sovereignty and achieving victory in the 2028 general election on his first anniversary in office.

Chairman Jang held a first anniversary press conference at the National Assembly on the 26th, presenting the ultimate goal of party reform as victory in the 2028 general election and reclaiming power.

He stated, "We must achieve a majority victory in the 2028 general election" and "We must create a People Power-led government where the People Power Party can take responsibility and properly operate state affairs."

Defining the past year as a time of party rebuilding and conservative unity, Chairman Jang focused the remaining year of his tenure on expanding public sentiment.

Chairman Jang emphasized, "If the past year was a time to rebuild a collapsed party and rally scattered conservatives, now is the time to properly build a bridgehead for victory," adding "Based on our united party spirit, we will advance toward the 'sea of public opinion.'"

To achieve this, the party will pursue the 'People Power 2.0, Four Major Innovation Project,' centered on party member sovereignty, people's livelihood party, communication party, and value party.

First, party member sovereignty will be expanded. The plan is to strengthen decision-making structures centered on party members by allowing party members to directly participate in the selection of provincial party chair positions and local party committee chairs. This is seen as reconfirming the party's will to introduce a responsible party member voting system for local party committee chairs, which some incumbent lawmakers within the party have been opposing.

The party's identity and personnel evaluation system will also be reformed. The plan is to clarify the values the conservative party aims for and establish new evaluation systems for National Assembly members and provincial and local government heads.

Internal and external communication will also be expanded. Expanded party executive meetings will be regularized and programs allowing direct public participation will increase. A people's livelihood policy task force directly under the party chairman will also be established to discover people's livelihood issues and strengthen policy response capabilities.

The stance of opposition struggle will continue. In particular, the party will block President Lee Jae-myung's trial issues and constitutional amendment attempts for consecutive terms, and will strongly push for the repeal of the yellow envelope bill. Chairman Jang stated, "Standing against governmental oppression and protecting people's sovereignty is the reason for the opposition party's existence," adding "We will establish a vibrant system that allows the party to fight properly."

Changes in party organization and personnel composition were also hinted at. He said, "In the remaining one year given to me, I will now make a new start" and "I will reform from within and lead complete change."

He further stated, "I will vigorously pursue 'reform from within' to fill the party with talented people who can fight properly and make the People Power Party a strong political party," emphasizing "I will open my heart more, gather party spirit and public sentiment. I will focus more on responsibility than on authority."
