Suwon Special City Council Opens 404th Extraordinary Session...Reviews Second Supplementary Budget
The Suwon Special City Council held its 1st plenary session of the 404th extraordinary session on September 1st and announced it has entered the legislative agenda through September 11th.
The extraordinary session was convened to review the 2026 Second Supplementary Budget amounting to 416.77 billion won and process other bills including ordinances. A total of 28 agenda items were submitted.
Vice Chairman Yu Jae-gwang of Suwon Special City Council mentioned in his opening remarks the growing fiscal burden due to decreased tax revenue and requested, "I ask for careful review so that limited resources provide practical benefit to citizen safety, people's livelihoods, and the local economy." He further emphasized the need to inspect disaster-vulnerable areas and strengthen response systems in preparation for extreme weather phenomena such as heavy rainfall and heat waves.
The Council will conduct preliminary review by standing committees from September 2nd to 4th, conduct comprehensive review of the supplementary budget by the Budget and Settlement Special Committee from September 8th to 10th, and make a final decision at the 2nd plenary session on September 11th.
During the five-minute free speech on this day, Councilor Sa Jung-hee urged the attraction of the Gyeonggi Southern Metropolitan Railway to Suwon.
