Suwon Metropolitan City Recruits First 'Suwon Eco Job Day' Participants

Suwon Metropolitan City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) is recruiting 180 middle and high school students, university students, and young adults to participate in the 'Suwon Eco Job Day (SUWON ECO JOB DAY),' a career exploration event in the environmental field, by September 4.

Held for the first time this year, Suwon Eco Job Day is a career-linked environmental mentoring event where field professionals in the environmental sector meet with youth and young adults to discuss job opportunities. It is co-hosted by Suwon City and the Gyeonggi Province Suwon Office of Education.

The event will be held three times at the Suwon City Hall conference room on September 18-19. Sessions include: △September 18 at 2 p.m. for 60 university students and young adults △September 19 at 9:30 a.m. for 60 middle and high school students △September 19 at 2:30 p.m. for 60 university students and young adults. Young adults aged 19-34 are eligible to participate.

Mentors include environmental professionals from 6 fields: △Suwon City environmental affairs civil servants △environmental organization activists △Gyeonggi Province Office of Education environmental affairs scholarship officers △Samsung Electronics practitioners △environmental science professors △Korea Meteorological Administration officials.

Participants will gather at round tables with mentors to discuss their roles in the environmental field, actual job duties, and career paths. Each round table includes one mentor and approximately 10 participants, with participants moving between tables to experience various careers.

During the September 19 afternoon session for young adults, a 'Sweet Climate Busking' performance supported by the Metropolitan Korea Meteorological Administration will also be held.

Those wishing to participate can apply by scanning the QR code for their respective category on the promotional material with their smartphone. Middle and high school students must be from the Suwon area, while university students and young adults must be enrolled at universities in Suwon or reside in Suwon City.

A Suwon City official stated, "Youth and young adults interested in the environment will have the opportunity to meet field professionals and understand careers in the environmental sector while exploring their career paths. We hope many youth and young adults participate and discover various career possibilities in the environmental field."
