The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Ahn Min-seok) held the "Hand in Hand RAS ON!" event at Hawon Elementary School in Seongnam on the 31st, in collaboration with the RAS Character Development Special Committee.

The event was organized to share exemplary practices at Hawon Elementary, where reading, arts and culture, and sports naturally permeate the school curriculum and daily life, with the educational community, and to explore directions for developing RAS education based on authentic voices from school settings.

The event was attended by Superintendent Ahn Min-seok of Gyeonggi Province, Chairman of the Education Planning Committee Kook Joong-bum, Chairman of the Education Administration Committee Kim Sung-soo, as well as officials from the Provincial Office of Education, teachers, students, and parents.

The event featured △sharing of parents' and student council phone-free practice pledges △"Oasis School Run" in which the educational community runs together △morning concert at Hawon Art Hall by students from the Seongnam Hawon Care Center △international exchange picture book making, teacher-developed reading app to prevent prejudicial reading, and sharing of parent reading club cases, among others.

In particular, "Oasis School Run" is a program where students continuously manage their own running records using a cumulative running management system developed by teachers and continue their sports activities. On this day, medals were presented to students who completed a cumulative 42.195 km, and the significance of consistent practice and growth was shared together.

At the morning concert, singer Yun Hyung-joo sang together with students, communicating through music, and in the library, they had a meaningful time meeting poet Ahn Do-hyun, allowing literature, music, and art to permeate the school's daily life.

Superintendent Ahn Min-seok of Gyeonggi Province stated, "We will work together with schools, the Provincial Office of Education, and local communities so that the school's excellent RAS practices do not remain confined to one school but spread throughout Gyeonggi education, making all schools in Gyeonggi Province excellent RAS schools," and added, "We will provide outstanding RAS students with an opportunity to visit Silicon Valley."

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education announced that it will form the "RAS Character Development Special Committee" composed of field experts in reading, arts and culture, sports, and education, and will continue to make policy proposals and collaborate with schools to ensure that RAS education becomes a permanent part of daily life and curriculum rather than a one-time project, including establishing criteria for selecting excellent schools and excellent students.

Additionally, the Provincial Office designated Hawon Elementary as the first RAS exemplary operating school and plans to continue discovering excellent schools that evenly operate reading, arts and culture, and sports within the province, complete the Gyeonggi RAS Map, and share and disseminate diverse implementation cases from school settings to promote RAS character development education effectively.
