Dongtan Tram 31km Project in Full Swing…Hwaseong City to Begin Priority Construction Section This Year

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myung-geun) announced on the 4th that it received the technical proposal and detailed design documents for the priority construction section of the 'Dongtan Urban Railway Construction Project (Phase 1)'.

The DL E&C Consortium, following a site briefing on May 7, carefully reviewed basic design documents, master plans, and bid guidelines provided by the city over a 120-day period to prepare technical proposals and detailed design documents for the priority construction section to be implemented before the main construction.

The city plans to evaluate the feasibility of the received technical proposal and detailed design documents through deliberation by the Hwaseong City Construction Technology Review Committee. If the deliberation results in a score of 60 points or higher and qualifies as suitable, the city will proceed with follow-up procedures for contracts in October.

Once contract procedures are completed, construction on the priority section will commence while detailed design for the main construction project will proceed over an eight-month period. Following completion of administrative procedures related to detailed design, the city plans to obtain business plan approval in August 2027 and commence main construction.

Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jung Myung-geun stated, "The Dongtan Tram is a large-scale transportation project that carries the long-standing expectations of citizens, so it is important to secure both project speed and safety and quality," adding, "We will objectively and strictly review the submitted proposals and systematically manage the remaining procedures and processes to ensure that the priority construction section commences this year and main construction commences in 2027 as planned."

Meanwhile, the Dongtan Urban Railway Construction Project (Phase 1) is a project to construct 33 stations and one vehicle depot over a total length of 31.55km. The main construction period is 53 months from the start date, including eight months for comprehensive railway system testing. The city plans to carry out stage-by-stage schedules including business plan approval and main construction commencement without delay.
