Ajou University Hospital Discusses 'Establishing Regional Comprehensive Cancer Care System' with National Cancer Center

Gyeonggi Regional Cancer Center at Ajou University Hospital announced that it held a meeting with the National Cancer Center on the 18th at the annex international conference room of Ajou University Hospital to establish a regional comprehensive cancer care system.

The meeting was attended by key officials from both institutions, including Yang Han-gwang, President of the National Cancer Center; Choi Gwi-seon, Head of the National Cancer Management Project; Han Gyu-tae, Head of Cancer Management Policy; Park Mi-rim, Director of the Pediatric and Adolescent Cancer Center; Han Sang-wook, President of Ajou University Medical Center; Jo Jae-ho, President of Ajou University Hospital; Jang Seok-jun, Director of Gyeonggi Regional Cancer Center; Kim Chul-ho, Director of the Advanced Medical Research Institute; and Huh Hoon, Director of the Gastric Cancer Center.

The two institutions discussed cooperation strategies in the fields of clinical care, research, and cancer management projects to establish a regional comprehensive cancer care system. In particular, both institutions shared the goal of providing more systematic medical services to regional cancer patients by linking the National Cancer Center's experience in national cancer management policy with the Gyeonggi Regional Cancer Center's expertise in regional medical practice through discovery of joint research projects and strengthening of cooperation frameworks.

Additionally, both institutions shared the operational status of pediatric and adolescent cancer hub hospitals designated this year and discussed ways to strengthen support systems between the two institutions to improve treatment accessibility for pediatric and adolescent cancer patients in the region.

Building on this meeting, the two institutions plan to strengthen networks between the National Cancer Center and regional cancer centers and continue cooperation in various fields including clinical care, research, and cancer management projects.

Han Sang-wook, President of Ajou University Medical Center, stated: "To establish a regional comprehensive cancer care system, it is important for regional cancer centers to strengthen their role as hubs for regional cancer care while establishing close cooperation with the National Cancer Center. Based on this meeting, we will expand cooperation in various fields including joint research as well as cancer management projects to provide high-quality cancer medical services in the region."
