Gyeonggi Province, Provincial Council, and Education Office Fly as 'Policy Triangle Formation'
Gyeonggi Province, together with the Gyeonggi Provincial Council and Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, will hold 31 '2026 Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi Education Policy Forums' from September to December on provincial administration and education issues, reflecting opinions from citizens and experts in policy.
Gyeonggi Province held the '2026 Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi Education Policy Forum Opening Ceremony' at the Gyeonggi Provincial Council Hall on September 1st, officially launching policy forums for the second half. A total of 40 policy forums are scheduled for this year. Nine forums were held in the first half, and 31 will be held in the second half.
The opening ceremony was attended by Ju Hyeong-cheol, Vice Governor of Gyeonggi Province for Economy, Nam Jong-seop, Speaker of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, Ahn Gwang-ryul, Representative Member of the Democratic Party, Bang Seong-hwan, Representative Member of the People Power Party, and Yoon So-young, Acting First Vice Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education. The opening ceremony featured opening remarks and congratulatory speeches.
The policy forum is a joint cooperation project promoted by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Provincial Council since 2018 to discover policy agendas that meet citizens' demands and expand citizen and municipal participation in provincial administration. Citizens, provincial council members, experts in relevant fields, provincial and municipal civil servants, and field stakeholders participate to discuss policy alternatives on regional and sector-specific issues.
The first Gyeonggi Province policy forum for the second half will be held on September 15th at the Munsan Happiness Center Small Concert Hall in Paju City. Provincial Council Member Kim Sun-hyun will serve as moderator to discuss field opinions and improvement measures on the theme of 'Citizen damages caused by military obstacles in northern Gyeonggi region and solutions.' The themes, schedules, and venues for the remaining forums will be announced later.
Any Gyeonggi Province citizen can participate in the policy forums, and can attend in person or watch the discussions live through the Gyeonggi Provincial Council's official YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/@ggassembly).
Ju Hyeong-cheol, Vice Governor of Gyeonggi Province for Economy, said, "Good policies become stronger when diverse opinions are freely discussed and wisdom is shared," adding "I hope the forums will become a productive forum for public discussion that enriches citizens' lives and shapes Gyeonggi Province's future together, and I will do my best to ensure that the opinions proposed are translated into substantive policies."
Nam Jong-seop, Speaker of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, said, "The policy forum is a place to publicize Gyeonggi's provincial administration and education challenges and find realistic solutions," adding "The meaning of the policy forum will be complete when issues discussed at the forum lead to policies for citizens, and when the resulting changes are felt in citizens' lives. I look forward to creating one change after another needed by citizens."
Yoon So-young, Acting First Vice Superintendent of Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, said, "Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is vigorously promoting 'Gyeonggi Education Transformation' so that students look forward to going to school, teachers are respected, and parents feel at ease at school," adding "I will deeply listen to the voices from the education field and various policy proposals gathered at the policy forum and translate them into changes in Gyeonggi education."
