Starfield Mall Dongtan Hosts Photo Exhibition Promoting Animal Adoption
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 13th that it will operate a photo exhibition promoting abandoned animal adoption at Starfield Mall Dongtan through October 11th.
The exhibition is the third event in the 'Pet Adoption Week' initiative that Gyeonggi Province has been carrying out since 2024 to promote proper pet culture and improve awareness of abandoned animals. This third event approaches residents' daily lives through cooperation with Starfield Mall Dongtan, a community space in the region.
The participating animals are approximately 40 dogs and cats awaiting new families at 'Banryemaru,' a complex facility for abandoned animal protection and adoption operated directly by Gyeonggi Province, to be held in two phases.
In the first phase from September 11th to September 25th, photos of approximately 20 dogs awaiting adoption at the 'Banryemaru Yeoju' center will be displayed. The second phase from September 26th to October 11th will feature photos of approximately 20 dogs and cats under care at 'Banryemaru Hwaseong' and 'Pet Adoption Center (Suwon)'.
The exhibition will take place on the second floor Book Ground and third floor Kids Ground of Starfield Mall Dongtan, a multi-use facility visited by an average of approximately 20,000 people on weekends, and aims to improve awareness of abandoned animals and promote adoption among children and family visitors.
Byeon Hee-jung, division chief of Pet Animals, stated, "This photo exhibition has significant meaning in changing awareness of abandoned animals and establishing proper pet culture in a living space frequently visited by residents," and added, "We hope that during holiday periods such as Chuseok and National Foundation Day when there are many family visits, residents will show warm interest in abandoned animals in the province."
