Suwon Establishes Four-Year Plan for Livelihood, Cooperative, and Research Cities to Complete 'Suwon's Great Transformation'

Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) has set 'Completing Suwon's Great Transformation' as its vision for the 9th civilian government and established three major policy goals: 'Affordable Livelihood City,' 'Cultural Tourism Cooperative City,' and 'Advanced Science Research City.'

On the 10th, Suwon City held a 'Final Report Meeting of the Suwon Great Transformation Task Force' at the City Hall conference room and reported the vision, principles, and goals for the 9th civilian government. Attending the meeting were Suwon Special City Mayor Lee Jae-jun, co-chairs of the Suwon Great Transformation Task Force Kim Sung-jin (Director of Suwon Research Institute for City Policy) and Hong Eun-hwa (Standing Co-Chair of Suwon Civil Society Organizations Council), and other committee members.

The Suwon Great Transformation Task Force, launched on June 22, has operated three divisions focusing on half-price livelihood city, cultural tourism hub city, and advanced science research city. The task force established the direction of city administration for the 9th civilian government and created a four-year operational plan. The task force comprises domain experts, governance institutions and organizations, and civil society group members.

The Suwon Great Transformation Task Force reviewed the 9th civilian government's campaign pledges and citizens' proposals, collected citizen opinions through deliberation, and set 60 policy initiatives to realize the administrative goals.

Policy initiatives for creating an affordable livelihood city include 25 projects such as △free bus and bus fare support △expanding living-oriented care support △creating pleasant urban environments including Saebbit Gardens △developing Palseek-gil specialty streets △expanding Veteran Civil Servant District operations △converting Saebbit Talk-Talk into an AI citizen deliberation platform.

Projects for creating a cultural tourism cooperative city include 17 initiatives such as △promoting King Jeongjo's Royal Procession as a K-Culture Road global festival △developing high-quality stay tourism infrastructure △activating commercial areas linked to local currency △supporting local culture and arts creative activities.

Projects for creating an advanced science research city include 18 initiatives such as △developing Suwon as a global advanced science research city and Suwon Economic Free Zone △building startup ecosystems for advanced industries including AI △transforming urban space through relocation of Suwon Military Airport △innovating residential environments through rapid revitalization of aging residential areas △establishing Suwon as a metropolitan railway hub city.

Suwon Special City Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, "I am grateful to the Suwon Great Transformation Task Force for carefully designing the direction that Suwon City should take in the 9th civilian government," and added, "I hope the task force members will continue to monitor whether the administrative goals and initiatives are being promoted well and provide your valuable input."
