The Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center has newly selected 33 second-round partner companies and is accelerating efforts to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and venture companies in Gyeonggi Province to enter the defense industry while expanding technology exchange between the military and businesses.

The Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center is a specialized defense industry support agency jointly operated by Gyeonggi Province, the Defense Technology Promotion Research Institute, and Pocheon City. It opened in February to support SMEs and venture companies in the province facing difficulties in entering the defense industry, providing services such as defense project discovery, technology development support, and market development.

On the 9th, Gyeonggi Province held the '2026 Second Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center Partner Company Agreement Ceremony and Technology Exchange Meeting' at the International Conference Room of Daejin University Library, signing business agreements with 33 companies. Under this agreement, the total number of Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center partner companies increased to 71, including the 38 first-round partner companies selected in the first half of this year.

The 33 selected companies are SMEs in Gyeonggi Province with technological capabilities in diverse fields including drones and unmanned systems, precision machinery, AI solutions, and specialized materials. The Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center provides comprehensive support to these partner companies for defense sector entry and competitiveness enhancement, including defense commercialization support, technical support, marketing, and defense-related information provision.

The event was attended by approximately 150 people, including officials from Gyeonggi Province and Pocheon City, the Defense Technology Promotion Research Institute, the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, Daejin University, the Gyeonggi Daejin Technopark, and partner companies of the Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center.

The event included presentation of company plaques, company introductions, and guidance on partner company support programs. During the subsequent technology exchange meeting, representatives from the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps participated directly to introduce military research and development planning, and through one-on-one consultations, companies and the military shared their technological capabilities and research and development needs to explore business participation opportunities.

Jo Jang-seok, Director of Balanced Development Planning at Gyeonggi Province, said, "With the Gyeonggi Defense Venture Center now having 71 partner companies in its first year of operation, it is now important to connect companies' excellent technologies with actual military needs to achieve tangible results," adding, "We will make active efforts to continuously identify necessary support in the field and strengthen cooperation with related agencies to contribute to enhancing the K-defense industry competitiveness of Gyeonggi Province companies."
