Suwon Volunteers Show Dedication in Flood Recovery at Sister City Geoje's Grape Farms

[News S = Reporter Cheon Uihyeon] Volunteers from Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province have launched recovery efforts at rain-damaged grape farms in Dundeok-myeon, Geoje City, Gyeongnam Province, a sister city, it was announced on the 6th.

The Suwon Volunteer Center, through communication with Geoje City, was assigned restoration work on rain and landslide-damaged grape fields and farms in Gerim-ri, Dundeok-myeon, Geoje City on the 4th and 5th, completing the work to restore conditions to their original state safely.

A total of 69 participants took part in this activity, including teachers and students from Samilgong High School, the Saebbit Volunteer Corps, the Suwon Metropolitan Corporation Volunteer Corps, and 18 other volunteer organizations, as well as individual volunteers and staff from the Suwon Volunteer Center. Samilgong High School students received praise and accolades for exemplary volunteer work, following their participation in flood recovery efforts in Gapyeong last year.

The Gyeonggi Province Volunteer Center also supported the recovery work by deploying a rest station bus. Center Director Choi Young-hwa said, "The heartfelt efforts of our volunteers have been of great help to grape farmers in Geoje City who were in despair."
