Suwon Special Municipality Holds Citizens' Public Hearing for '6th Regional Social Security Plan'

Suwon Special Municipality (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) held a 'Citizens' Public Hearing for the Establishment of the 6th Suwon Regional Social Security Plan' at the Hongjae Welfare Town Education Center on the 3rd, gathering public opinion on the direction of Suwon's social security policies for the next four years.

The 6th Suwon Regional Social Security Plan is a medium- to long-term social security plan to be implemented over four years from 2027 to 2030. Based on regional community social security needs, it establishes goals and implementation strategies, and includes △strategy and priority projects by sector △management of the social security delivery system △discovery and support for welfare blind spots △methods for securing financial resources, and more.

Suwon has set the vision for the 6th plan as 'Suwon: An Inclusive City Where Everyone Receives Care and Grows Together.' The city aims to implement customized social security policies that reflect changes in population and household structure, social security needs, and characteristics of local resources, and to establish an inclusive social security system that enables all citizens to easily access and participate in necessary social security services.

The public hearing proceeded in the following order: △progress report and vision announcement for the 6th Regional Social Security Plan △report on detailed contents of the plan △designated discussion △gathering of participants' opinions and Q&A. The 6th plan includes 54 detailed projects to be implemented over the next four years.

Han Yeon-ju, research fellow at the Suwon City Policy Research Institute and principal researcher, explained the detailed contents of the 6th Regional Social Security Plan. Kim Yun-hee, vice chair of the 6th Plan Establishment Promotion Committee, served as moderator and exchanged opinions on the direction and detailed projects with researchers, citizen participation members, and related government officials.

A Suwon City official stated, "The 6th Regional Social Security Plan is an important plan that presents the direction of Suwon's social security policies for the next four years," and added, "We will faithfully reflect the opinions raised at the public hearing to establish a plan that citizens can feel and experience."
