Ajou University Hospital Recruits Participants for Gyeonggi Southern Region Diabetes Academy

The Korean Diabetes Association and the Korea Metabolic Syndrome Forum will hold the 'Gyeonggi Southern Region Diabetes Academy' from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the 16th at the Grand Hall of Ajou University Hospital and are recruiting participants.

This event has been organized to help middle-aged and older adults in the Gyeonggi Southern Region who suffer from diabetes and metabolic syndrome systematically improve their self-management capabilities. It will provide a free trial of continuous glucose monitoring devices (CGM), personalized blood sugar management education incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) technology, and one-on-one intensive follow-up management by medical professionals. Anyone can participate, including diabetes patients, those at risk of metabolic syndrome, and local residents interested in blood sugar and health management.

The education will be conducted through continuous glucose monitoring device trials and expert lectures. Participants will directly attach the continuous glucose monitoring device, learn how to use the dedicated app, and acquire knowledge on diabetes prevention and treatment, meal management, and the latest blood sugar management methods.

Professor Kim Dae-joong from the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Ajou University Hospital will give a lecture on 'Diabetes Prevention and Basic Education and Latest Diabetes Treatment Trends,' and Kim Mi-hyang, Part Head of the Nutrition Team at Ajou University Hospital, will introduce diabetes meal methods using continuous glucose monitoring devices. Following this, Nurse Song Jung-eun from the Internal Medicine Unit at Konkuk University Hospital will explain 'Blood Sugar Management Using AI Technology.'

All participants will be provided with the continuous glucose monitoring device 'Libre 2' worth 280,000 won free of charge, up to two units per person, and on-site installation training will be conducted. After the education ends, participants can utilize a one-on-one intensive follow-up management program through a dedicated mobile communication channel for one month, which includes blood sugar management Q&A and monitoring feedback.
