Meet '1980s Suwon, We Were There Then' at Suwon Museum Special Exhibition
The Suwon Museum special exhibition '1980s Suwon, We Were There Then,' showcasing the landscape of Suwon and its people in the 1980s, can now be seen outside the museum as well.
From September 1 through December, the Suwon Museum will host a traveling exhibition of '1980s Suwon, We Were There Then' at the Suwon Metropolitan City Council lobby (September 1-6), the Suwon Metropolitan City Hall main building lobby (September 7-11), the Jangan-gu Office lobby (October 12-16), and the Gwonseon-gu Office exhibition space (December 1-15).
The Suwon Museum held the special exhibition photo exhibition of old Suwon, '1980s Suwon, We Were There Then,' in the museum's special exhibition hall from March 26 through August 30, receiving strong response from citizens. To allow citizens to view the photo exhibition at convenient nearby locations, the museum planned this traveling exhibition.
Visitors can see approximately 20 photographs capturing the landscape of the 1980s and the daily lives of citizens during this period of rapid urbanization and social change that shaped modern-day Suwon. The exhibition offers a comprehensive view of daily life and community during that era, including streets and alleyways, markets and schools, residential areas, and various events.
An official from the Suwon Museum said, "The 1980s Suwon in these photographs is a precious record showing the daily lives of citizens who lived through urban change and transformation," and added, "We hope that citizens visiting city hall, the city council, and district offices will pause for a moment, reflect on Suwon's past, and use this as an opportunity to view Suwon today with fresh eyes."
