Suwon Special City Recruits Students for 5th Session of Saebbit Citizen Urban Renewal School
Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) is recruiting students for the 5th session of the "Saebbit Citizen Urban Renewal School," which cultivates citizen experts in urban renewal, from September 1 to 30.
Any Suwon citizens interested in urban renewal projects can participate. A total of 50 students will be recruited on a first come, first served basis.
The 5th session of the Saebbit Citizen Urban Renewal School lectures will be held every Thursday from October 15 to November 19 at the Conference Hall of Suwon City Business Support Center. It is a six-week program.
The curriculum consists of education related to urban renewal projects, including △overview and types of renewal project systems, △implementation procedures, △establishment and operation of associations, and △development of project implementation plans. Expert instructors will explain the fundamental and practical core content related to renewal projects in an easy-to-understand manner.
Since 2024, Suwon City has been cultivating citizen experts in urban renewal through the Saebbit Citizen Urban Renewal School to prevent disputes and conflicts between residents occurring during urban renewal projects and to promote renewal projects swiftly.
To date, the city has operated Sessions 1-4 of the Saebbit Citizen Urban Renewal School and has produced over 200 graduates. The response has been positive, with participant satisfaction exceeding 90%.
Citizens interested in participating can apply via email (silverzz@korea.kr) or in person (Dong Administrative Welfare Center, Suwon City Hall).
An official from Suwon City stated, "Urban renewal projects are completed through the decisions of residents, so it is crucial to understand them accurately from the first stage," and added, "We will provide education with content that can be applied directly in the field."
