The Suwon Municipal Council(Chairman Kim Mi-kyung) visited Maesan Market on the 31st to examine major issues including securing parking spaces, improving drainage facilities to prevent flooding, and expanding cooling facilities in preparation for extreme heat, and discussed ways to revitalize the commercial district.

Attending the on-site visit were Chairman Kim Mi-kyung, Councilmember Jo In-hee(Democratic Party, Maegyo·Maesan·Godeung·Hwaseo 1·2·Seryou 1Dong), Councilmember Jung Ok-seon(People Power Party, Maegyo·Maesan·Godeung·Hwaseo 1·2·Seryou 1Dong) and related Municipal Council officials and civil servants from relevant Suwon city departments.

In particular, they directly heard inconveniences and suggestions from merchants currently experiencing challenges on-site, and spent time examining areas in need of improvement and future direction with relevant departments.

Chairman Kim Mi-kyung said, "Since traditional markets are important living spaces where citizens' daily lives and local economies meet, it is important to directly examine inconveniences experienced on-site and find practical improvement measures" and added, "I will continue to communicate with relevant departments so that the matters confirmed today can be improved one by one."

He further stated, "The council will fulfill its necessary role in creating an environment where citizens can use the market more conveniently and merchants can feel vitality" and added.
