Yongin Special City Changes Bus Route 24-3 to Enhance Student Commute Safety at Choin Elementary and Middle Schools
Yongin Special City announced on the 31st that it will change the return route of village bus 24-3 starting next month to enhance commute safety for students at Choin Elementary and Middle Schools in Namsa-eup, Choin-gu.
Bus 24-3 operates on a route from Hansup Square in Namsa-eup through Wanjang-ri, Seo-ri, and Yongin University to City Hall. There had been resident concerns about pedestrian student safety as the bus previously made its return near Choin Elementary and Middle Schools.
The city prepared this route change plan reflecting opinions from a parent representative meeting chaired by Mayor Lee Sang-il and 'Conversations with Citizens' events. Starting next month, the route that previously passed through Choin Elementary and Middle Schools and Hansup Children's Park will be changed to go through Namsa Agricultural Cooperative to reach Hansup Square.
Accordingly, the Namsa Library and Hansup Children's Park bus stops will be removed, and a new stop at Namsa Agricultural Cooperative will be added.
Mayor Lee said, "This is an exemplary case of resolving inconveniences by listening to voices from the field," and added, "In the ninth popularly-elected administration, we will continue to hold communication meetings to hear various opinions on education, housing, transportation, and other areas."
