Suwon Youth Compete in History, Culture, and Reading Knowledge at 'Scholarship Golden Bell' Event

The Suwon Scholarship Foundation held the '2026 Suwon Youth Scholarship Golden Bell' at the Suwon City Hall main conference room on the 29th.

The Youth Scholarship Golden Bell, which brought together 80 participants including middle school students in Suwon and out-of-school youth, was conducted in four stages: preliminaries, losers' bracket, main round, and finals. Questions were drawn from Suwon's history, culture, city policy, and general knowledge, as well as from writer Nae Tae-joo's "Live Cherishing Yourself" and writer Choi Tae-sung's "The Usefulness of History," both selected as '2026 Suwon's Book of the Year.'

Suwon Special City Mayor Lee Jae-jun, who posed the first question, said, "In the era of artificial intelligence (AI), it is important to cultivate the ability to think, question, and judge for ourselves," and added, "I hope the process of preparing for the Golden Bell becomes an opportunity to better understand Suwon and learn wisdom from books."

Kim Chae-won, a third-year student at Imok Middle School, remained as the last participant and received the grand prize. Jung Ji-hyuk, a second-year student at Songwon Middle School, and Lee Yun-ji, a third-year student at Suil Girls' Middle School, each received the best award. In addition, a total of 15 youth including 4 excellence award winners and 8 encouragement award winners were honored.

The grand prize winner received a certificate from the Suwon Office of Education superintendent and 700,000 won in scholarship from the Suwon Scholarship Foundation, while best award (500,000 won), excellence award (300,000 won), and encouragement award (200,000 won) recipients were each presented with scholarships from the Suwon Scholarship Foundation.
