Anseong City Completes 4-Year Expansion Project on Provincial Route 5 Between Samheung and Mijang

Anseong City held an opening ceremony on the 28th for Provincial Route 5 between Samheung-ri in Geumgwang-myeon and Mijang-ri in Samjuk-myeon.

The road was constructed as a two-lane roadway with a total length of 3.0 km and width of 9 m, with a total project cost of 49 billion won. In particular, this project, which includes a 498-meter tunnel, marks the first tunnel construction directly carried out by Anseong City, setting a new milestone in the city's road construction.

Construction began in March 2022 and was completed after approximately four years of work. The opening of this road is expected to improve accessibility to National Route 38 and the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway, and is anticipated to significantly enhance transportation convenience for residents of Geumgwang-myeon and Samjuk-myeon.

Prior to the opening, Anseong City conducted preliminary on-site inspections of road pavement, the tunnel, drainage facilities, traffic safety facilities, and road signs to carefully verify safety and construction quality, making efforts to create a road that citizens can use with confidence.

Anseong Mayor Kim Bo-ra said at the opening ceremony, "This road opening today is not merely a road, but a new path connecting people and regions and linking Anseong's future." She added, "Beyond the significance of being Anseong's first tunnel, I hope it becomes a path that makes citizens' lives more convenient and brings new vitality to the region."

Going forward, Anseong City plans to continue making efforts to expand and maintain road infrastructure to enhance transportation convenience and safety for citizens and promote balanced development among regions.
