The Gyeonggi Province Women and Family Foundation held a relocation ceremony on the 28th at its new headquarters in Jeungpo-dong, Icheon, and began operations.

Governor Choo Mi-ae of Gyeonggi Province, who attended the relocation ceremony, said, "I will support the foundation so it can achieve good results in line with the purpose of the relocation," and added, "If we simply relocate and then fail to pay attention because it's outside Suwon, the purpose of the relocation is lost. I would like to hold policy discussion meetings with provincial assemblymen here and create conditions for the foundation to properly carry out its work, so we can achieve good results."

Governor Choo continued, "In the AI era, we must preserve areas that AI cannot replace, and the first thing that comes to mind is the realm of motherhood. I was always a busy mother and couldn't be there for my children, only later realizing its importance. Among the work you perform, such as childcare and support for sexual violence victims, are areas AI cannot replace. I hope you will do well," she urged.

The Gyeonggi Province Women and Family Foundation completed its relocation from the Gyeonggi Province Human Resources Development Institute in Suwon to Icheon on June 29. The new headquarters, with a total floor area of 3,258 square meters (one basement level and three above-ground floors), features a large conference room capable of operating various educational programs and policy seminars for residents, as well as various spaces for regional cooperation projects targeting related organizations and municipal governments.

The Gyeonggi Province Women and Family Foundation's relocation to Icheon follows the Third Gyeonggi Province Public Institution Relocation Plan announced in May 2021. The Women and Family Foundation became the eighth organization to complete its relocation, following the Gyeonggi Agricultural and Fisheries Promotion Agency and the Gyeonggi Province Social Service Center, among others.

Through its relocation to Icheon, the foundation plans to enhance the effectiveness of women and family policies by organically linking research and policy development, education, and networking functions, and to expand policy services that residents can feel. Additionally, the foundation plans to strengthen cooperation bases with the eastern region of Gyeonggi Province and the entire province, thereby improving policy accessibility across regions.

The commemorative ceremony was attended by approximately 100 people, including Governor Choo Mi-ae, National Assembly members Song Seok-jun and Kim Yun, Kim Yong-sung, chairperson of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly's Committee on Women, Family and Lifelong Education, Icheon Mayor Sung Su-seok, Acting President and Representative Director Moon Gyeong-hee of the foundation, provincial and municipal assembly members, and officials from the Gyeonggi Province Women's Organizations Council, to celebrate the foundation's new beginning.
