Yangju City Reduces Metropolitan Subway Line 1 Rush Hour Train Intervals from 30 Minutes to 14 Minutes

Yangju City (Mayor Jung Deok-young) announced on the 27th that starting September 1st, rush hour train intervals on Metropolitan Subway Line 1 at Deokgye Station and Deokjeong Station will be improved.

This adjustment is in accordance with Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) operational changes to electric trains, achieved by adjusting the existing train operation sections and sequences to reduce rush hour train intervals.

Residents of the region, including those in Hoecheon New Town who use Deokgye Station and Deokjeong Station, have experienced inconvenience as train intervals have stretched up to 30 minutes. Particularly, they have called for improvements in train intervals due to long and irregular rush hour spacing.

In response, the city has maintained consultations with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korea Railroad Corporation to improve rush hour train intervals.

Following this operational adjustment, based on Seoul City Hall Station as the reference point, the 6 p.m. hour train intervals arriving at Deokgye Station and Deokjeong Station will be reduced from a maximum of 30 minutes to 14 minutes. The 7 p.m. hour intervals will also decrease from 27 minutes to 19 minutes.

Yangju City plans to continue consultations with relevant agencies regarding additional train car solutions for Line 1 separately from this interval improvement.

Yangju City Mayor Jung Deok-young said, "We expect that citizen inconvenience from rush hour train use will be reduced" and added, "We will continue to consult with relevant agencies to enhance public transportation convenience."
