An Min-suk Makes 'Teachers' Administrative Work Zero (ZERO)' Visible...4 Pilot Education Support Offices Selected

The Gyeonggi Province Office of Education (Superintendent An Min-suk) has selected the ‘Teachers' Administrative Work Zero (ZERO) Pilot Education Support Offices’ for the first time in the nation and is beginning in earnest to create schools where teachers can concentrate on educational activities.

On August 28, the Gyeonggi Province Office of Education and four pilot education support offices (Ansan Education Support Office, Yangpyeong Education Support Office, Pyeongtaek Education Support Office, and Pocheon Education Support Office) held a signing ceremony for ‘Teachers' Administrative Work Zero (ZERO)’ at the South Campus of the Gyeonggi Province Office of Education.

At this event, the commitment to implementing zero administrative work for teachers was officially declared, and the education support offices expressed their determination to actively endeavor to enable teachers to concentrate solely on educational activities.

The characteristic of this agreement is that it goes beyond the limitations of conventional workload reduction or job assignment adjustments and constructs a ‘Teachers' Administrative Work Zero (ZERO)’ model led by education support offices.

The pilot education support offices will analyze regional characteristics, establish their own plans for achieving zero administrative work for teachers, and directly discover and analyze school site operations to promote practical improvements.

To this end, new systems such as △work restructuring △simplification △automation △administrative teacher system will be introduced to dramatically reduce the administrative work burden felt by teachers, and a support system will be established to enable schools to concentrate on educational activities.

The verified achievements and practical models from the four pilot education support offices will be discovered and standardized, and rapidly disseminated to 21 education support offices. All 25 education support offices will operate according to their own plans reflecting regional circumstances and school site needs, with the aim of establishing ‘Teachers' Administrative Work Zero (ZERO)’ at an early stage.

Superintendent of Education An Min-suk of Gyeonggi Province stated, “I hope that the superintendents of each local education support office will fulfill their roles as field experts based on the provincial office of education's principles and direction,” and added, “Based on the leading operations of the four pilot education support offices, I look forward to all education support offices actively promoting teachers' administrative work zero (ZERO) tailored to regional characteristics in the future.”
