Ajou University Hospital Discusses 'Regionally Integrated Cancer Care System' with National Cancer Center
The Gyeonggi Regional Cancer Center at Ajou University Hospital announced that it held a discussion meeting with the National Cancer Center on the 18th at the annex international conference room of Ajou University Hospital to establish a regionally integrated cancer care system.
The meeting was attended by key representatives from both institutions, including Yang Han-gwang, Director of the National Cancer Center; Choi Gwi-seon, Head of the National Cancer Management Project Division; Han Gyu-tae, Director of Cancer Management Policy Division; Park Mi-rim, Director of the Pediatric and Adolescent Cancer Center; Han Sang-wook, President of Ajou University Medical Center; Jo Jae-ho, President of Ajou University Hospital; Jang Seok-jun, Director of the Gyeonggi Regional Cancer Center; Kim Chul-ho, Director of the Advanced Medical Research Institute; and Heo Hun, Director of the Gastric Cancer Center.
Both institutions discussed cooperation strategies in clinical care, research, and cancer management projects to establish a regionally integrated cancer care system. In particular, they agreed to link the National Cancer Center's experience in national cancer management policy with the Gyeonggi Regional Cancer Center's expertise in regional medical practice through discovery of joint research projects and strengthened cooperation frameworks to provide more systematic medical services to regional cancer patients.
The institutions also shared operational status of the pediatric and adolescent cancer hub hospitals designated this year and discussed ways to strengthen mutual support systems between the two institutions to improve access to treatment for pediatric and adolescent cancer patients in the region.
Both institutions plan to strengthen the network between the National Cancer Center and regional cancer centers through this discussion meeting and continue cooperation in various fields including clinical care, research, and cancer management projects.
Han Sang-wook, President of Ajou University Medical Center, said, "To establish a regionally integrated cancer care system, it is important for regional cancer centers to strengthen their role as hubs for regional cancer treatment while establishing close cooperation with the National Cancer Center.
