GTX C Line Groundbreaking Enables 30-Minute Journey from Suwon Station to Cheongnyangni Station

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister Kim Yun-deok) will commence construction on the GTX C Line private investment project on the 15th. To mark the groundbreaking, a promotional center will also be operated to allow citizens to experience the GTX C Line in advance.

The GTX C Line is an 86.6km metropolitan rapid transit route that departs from Deokjeong-dong in Yangju City, passes through Seoul's central areas including Cheongnyangni Station, Samsung Station, and Yangjae Station, and connects to Suwon Station and Sangroksu Station in southern Gyeonggi Province.

When the line opens, travel time is expected to be significantly reduced, including from Deokjeong Station to Samsung Station from approximately 80 minutes to approximately 30 minutes, and from Suwon Station to Cheongnyangni Station from approximately 75 minutes to approximately 30 minutes, which is expected to bring about a revolutionary improvement in metropolitan transit in the Seoul metropolitan area.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the project operator have established promotional centers at Suwon Station and Uijeongbu Station to inform citizens of the GTX C Line groundbreaking and enhance understanding of the project.

The opening ceremony, held at Suwon Station starting at 5 p.m. on the 15th, will include an unveiling ceremony for the actual GTX C Line train model. The event is expected to be attended by approximately 100 people, including Kim Yong-seok, Chair of the Metropolitan Area Wide-Area Transport Committee at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, members of the National Assembly, local government leaders, construction officials, and citizens.

The promotional center will be operated at Suwon Station from the 16th to 18th and at Uijeongbu Station from the 20th to 22nd, consisting of exhibition and experience spaces where visitors can view train design and route information and participate in quizzes.

In the experience space, any citizen can use a kiosk to check the reduced commute times when the C Line opens, directly change the interior and exterior design of vehicles and share completed images, and easily and enjoyably experience the C Line.

A photo booth is also available for visitors to capture their anticipation for the opening in four-cut photographs, and a wheel-of-fortune event is operated where visitors solving GTX C Line trivia questions can win various prizes.

Chair Kim Yong-seok is scheduled to say at the opening ceremony, "I am delighted to announce to the public the groundbreaking of the C Line, which has faced challenges for a long time," and "Going forward, through rigorous construction management, we will ensure quality and safety and make it possible to open on schedule."
