Suwon Special City Confirms Supplementary Budget of 4.1677 Trillion Won…Allocates Funds for Resource Recovery Facility Repairs and R&D Park Development

Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) has confirmed a supplementary budget for 2026 totaling 4.1677 trillion won submitted by the city.

The Suwon Special City Council passed the second supplementary budget for 2026 at its plenary session on the 11th. This represents an increase of 336.6 billion won (8.8%) compared to the first supplementary budget of 3.8311 trillion won. The increase comprises 224.3 billion won in the general account and 112.3 billion won in special accounts.

Major projects include △military noise damage compensation payments of 13.4 billion won △green remodeling of public buildings of 12.2 billion won △major repairs to the resource recovery facility of 54.5 billion won △early childhood care and education costs of 18 billion won △activity support allowances for people with disabilities of 17 billion won △The Gyeonggi Pass of 19.9 billion won △Indeogwon-Dongtan double-track electric railway of 10 billion won △Suwon R&D Science Park development of 25 billion won, among others.

Suwon Special City Mayor Lee Jae-jun stated, "This supplementary budget has been compiled with a focus on securing sustainable growth drivers for the city and improving deteriorated public infrastructure to create a pleasant urban environment," and added, "We have also carefully reflected budgets for livelihood stability, including public transportation support and care for vulnerable groups, to enhance the quality of life for residents."
