Suwon's Ilwol and Younghung Arboretums Operate 'Moonlit Garden' in October
Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) will operate the '2026 Suwon Arboretum Autumn Moonlit Garden' at Ilwol and Younghung Arboretums every Friday and Saturday from October 2 to 31.
During the Moonlit Garden period, the theme gardens and greenhouses will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Last entry is at 8:30 p.m. The Visitor Center will operate from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Theme gardens adorned with autumn flowers greet visitors. Ilwol Arboretum will decorate its display gardens and surrounding spaces with pink-hued flowers including gardenium, aster, and pink muhly. The Grass Garden, featuring approximately 130 species of plants including Korean feather reed grass, silver grass, and pampas grass, allows visitors to experience the essence of autumn.
Younghung Arboretum will feature a photo zone titled 'Pink, Meeting Me' decorated with gaura, aster, Koreana aster, and China aster. Visitors can also enjoy the Seasonal Flower Garden showcasing pink pampas grass and miscanthus, as well as the Rice Paddy Garden where golden rice ears can be appreciated.
Exhibitions will also be on display. At Ilwol Arboretum's exhibition greenhouse, visitors can view 'The Girl Born from Flowers, Thumbelina,' and at Younghung Arboretum's exhibition greenhouse, 'Hansel and Gretel: The Seduction of the Forest.' The Visitor Center will host exhibitions titled 'The Town of Suwon Made by Trees' and 'The Scent of Suwon,' respectively.
Special nighttime programs include evening garden walks, making glow-in-the-dark flower pots (Moonlit Flower), and pressed-flower hanji lantern crafting. A community participation performance titled 'Suwon Arboretum, Together in Harmony' will also be held, featuring 11 teams and approximately 100 participants including children's art groups, orchestras, and acoustic guitar and saxophone ensembles.
On October 24, an autumn flower festival will be held at Ilwol Arboretum in connection with the nighttime operations.
An official from the Suwon Parks and Greenbelt Management Office stated, "We have prepared a diverse range of autumn flowers such as pink muhly, aster, and cosmos, as well as various programs including community performances and evening walks," and added, "We hope visitors will enjoy the beautiful autumn scenery illuminated by lights and nature at Suwon Arboretum on cool autumn nights and create cherished memories."
