Yangju City announced on the 25th that ‘Gana Art Park’ has been newly certified as a ‘2026 Gyeonggi-type Wellness Tourism Destination.’

Accordingly, Yangju City now holds a total of three Gyeonggi-type Wellness Tourism Destinations, following the certification of Yangju Municipal Art Museum and Yukji Jangsa in 2025.

The ‘Gyeonggi-type Wellness Tourism Destination’ is an initiative pursued by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization to discover and foster outstanding tourism resources within the province. It selects tourism destinations where visitors can reflect on themselves, restore balance to body and mind, and bring positive change to their daily lives.

Gana Art Park has its origins in the Total Museum, Korea’s first private art museum that opened in 1984. Gana Art Center acquired it in 2005 and developed it into a complex cultural and arts space centered around a sculpture park. In 2013, it opened Korea’s first ‘Picasso Children’s Art Museum,’ establishing itself as a cultural and arts space enjoyed by children and adults alike.

‘Air Pocket’ and ‘Bebop,’ handcrafted by textile artist Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam, are interactive artworks and net playgrounds where visitors can experience art with their entire bodies. In the sculpture park, visitors can appreciate approximately 50 works by leading domestic and international artists including Moon Shin, Choi Jong-tae, and Han Jin-seop, as well as Bourdelle, Joel Shapiro, and Marc Quinn, set in a natural environment.

Yangju Municipal Min Bok-jin Art Museum regularly operates the family healing docent program ‘Listen Carefully,’ which connects to its collection, while Yangju Municipal Jang Uk-jin Art Museum operates the exhibition-linked meditation program ‘Complete Immersion,’ which combines art and therapy.

Dorisan Yukji Jangsa is a healing sanctuary that combines Korea’s traditional healing philosophy with scientific wellness methods. It operates various health promotion programs including breathing meditation, mugwort moxibustion, agarwood, and seoncha tea, as well as an ‘oxygen breathing meditation path’ in nature.

The city plans to actively leverage the diverse wellness content offered by Gana Art Park, Yangju Municipal Art Museum, and Yukji Jangsa to develop Yangju into a representative wellness tourism city in northern Gyeonggi Province.
