Citizens Join in 'Lawn Concert' on August 28 at Suwon Outdoor Music Theater
The '2026 Lawn Concert - A Midsummer Night's Sing-along' will be held at 8 p.m. on August 28 at Suwon Outdoor Music Theater (Ingye-dong), where citizens can sit on the grass and enjoy performances by the Suwon Philharmonic Chorus.
This year, the Suwon Philharmonic Chorus will take the stage alongside amateur citizen choral groups from Suwon, creating a 'stage of civic harmony' where audiences can sing together with performers.
Diverse choral performances by the Suwon Philharmonic Chorus, featuring solo, ensemble, and duet stages, will present gala shows with musical numbers and popular pop classics. The 'Suwon Citizens Chorus We Singers,' composed of amateur citizen chorus members, will join the stage to perform refreshing summer songs.
The highlight of this year's lawn concert is 'Sing-along,' which breaks down the barrier between stage and audience, allowing all attendees to sing along together. The performance aims to create a genuine stage of harmony where citizens and musicians connect through shared singing.
As this is a stage co-created with citizens, this year features a 'dress code (recommended attire)' of white tops. When citizens gather wearing white clothing, the lawn will shimmer like a summer night sky, creating a spectacular scene where stage and audience become one. The event promises to offer audiences a special experience of becoming part of the performance.
Conducted by artistic director Kim Bo-mi, the performance will open with a grand overture created by Project Pops Orchestra and the contemporary dance team (Orbit Project), followed by beloved classics that captivate audiences' eyes and ears.
Singer Lee Juck, beloved for his distinctive musical style, will make a special appearance. Lee Juck will treat audiences to unforgettable memories with songs beloved across generations, including 'Thank Goodness,' 'Just as I Say,' and 'Running Through the Sky.'
The lawn concert is held on the last Friday of August each year, a high-quality park concert that refreshes the summer heat with beautiful music. Now in its 24th year since its 2003 launch, it is the flagship performance by the Suwon Philharmonic Chorus and offers free admission.
Any citizen may attend free of charge without prior reservation, and the experience becomes more comfortable by bringing a mat or blanket to sit on.
