[News S=Kim Jong-sik, Senior Reporter] The Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority selected 4 outstanding entries, including 1 grand prize winner, from 65 submissions to the '2026 Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) and Innovation Idea Contest,' and held an awards ceremony at the Pyeongtaek Port Marine Center on the 6th.

The grand prize was awarded to 'A Plan to Introduce an ESG-Linked Bonus Point System for Cargo Attraction Incentives at Pyeongtaek Port.' The proposal suggests implementing a bonus point system that evaluates ESG factors including environment, society, and governance in the incentive program provided to attract cargo to Pyeongtaek Port.

The judging panel evaluated the proposal as having high feasibility and effectiveness, noting that ESG elements can be concretely integrated into the port authority's existing port logistics support projects.

The port authority composed a judging committee with external experts and others, comprehensively evaluating five categories: feasibility, public recognition, ESG and government innovation linkage, creativity, and effectiveness and scalability. Through this process, a total of 4 outstanding works were selected: 1 grand prize, 1 excellence award, and 2 encouragement awards.

The contest was held to solicit ESG and innovation ideas from the public that can be linked with the Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority's major projects. The submission period ran from June 8 to July 3, and a total of 65 proposals were received across four categories—environment, society, governance, and innovation—targeting port hinterland development, port logistics facility operations, and marina and marine leisure businesses.

The Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority plans to review the feasibility of the excellent ideas discovered through this contest, establish detailed implementation tasks for ESG and innovation in 2027, and reflect them in the port authority's major projects and overall management.

Kim Geum-gyu, acting president of Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority, stated, "This contest has become an opportunity to contemplate Pyeongtaek Port's future from the perspective of the public and discover new ideas," and added, "We will carefully review the proposed ideas and pursue ESG management that allows citizens to experience the changes."
