Fire at Hwaseong Resource Recycling Facility... Response Level 2 Activated

A fire has broken out at a resource recycling facility in Hwaseong, and extinguishing efforts are underway.

According to the Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Management Headquarters on the 16th, a fire broke out at a resource recycling facility located in Jeongnam-myeon, Hyohaeng-gu, Hwaseong Special City at approximately 1:58 p.m., prompting the activation of Response Level 2.

Fire authorities have deployed 117 personnel and 39 pieces of equipment to the scene to suppress the fire.

Fire authorities initially activated Response Level 1 at approximately 2:15 p.m.; however, due to the large amount of combustible materials, they upgraded the response level to Level 2 at 2:29 p.m. and are concentrating efforts on suppressing the fire.

When Response Level 2 is activated, firefighting forces from 8 to 11 fire stations near the incident site and 51 to 80 pieces of equipment are mobilized.

Personnel inside evacuated on their own; however, one woman in her 50s suffered minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Police and fire authorities plan to determine the cause of the accident and assess the extent of damage as soon as the fire is extinguished.
