National Youth Music Competition to Color Gwanggyo Lake Park This Weekend

The '2026 National Youth Music Competition' will be held at 5 p.m. on the 12th at the outdoor theater in Gwanggyo Lake Park.

The competition drew applications from 158 teams and 401 youth aged 14-24 from across the nation in the preliminary round. After undergoing online first and second round reviews, 7 teams were selected to advance to the finals: △2 bands, △4 instrumental/vocal teams, and △1 rap team.

Seven teams will compete in the finals: 'Bada', Kim Hyo-jin, Kim Chae-min, Choi Ji-hyun, 'Gangnim', 'Sky Note', and 'Broken days'. From Suwon, the 5-member band 'Sky Note' from Yeongdeungpo-gu will present their original composition 'To You'.

All teams advancing to the finals will compete with original compositions. Following the review, winners will be selected: 1 Grand Prize, 1 Gold Prize, 1 Silver Prize, 3 Encouragement Prizes, and 1 Special Prize, with total prize money of 15 million won awarded.

After the finals competition, a congratulatory performance by singer O-wen and an awards ceremony will follow. After the awards ceremony, singers Shin Ye-young and Lee Ye-jun will perform in celebration.

Prior to the event, a pre-competition performance by the first competition's Grand Prize team will be held starting at 4:30 p.m. A promotional video for '2026-2027 Suwon Visit Year' will also be screened.

The competition is free to attend for all citizens. Admission is first-come, first-served. If the number of attendees exceeds 600, admission may be limited for safety reasons.

A Suwon City official stated, "This will be a stage where youth from across the nation showcase the music they have created themselves and share their talents and passion with each other," and added, "We hope many citizens will visit Gwanggyo Lake Park and enjoy the performances of young musicians together."
