Jangam Station on Subway Line 7 to Close October 2-30; Free Shuttle Service from Dobongsan Station

Jangam Station on Subway Line 7 will close from October 2 to 30 for the construction of the Dobongsan-Okjeong metropolitan railway. During this period, Subway Line 7 will operate only up to Dobongsan Station, the stop immediately before Jangam Station.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 7th the "Jangam Station Closure and Alternative Transportation Plan" and said it will operate free shuttle buses from 5 a.m. to midnight on the Dobongsan Station Transfer Center~Dobongsan Depot Entrance~Jangam Station Stop route to serve residents' convenience during this period. Service frequency is 7-15 minutes on weekdays and 10-20 minutes on weekends and holidays.

This measure is due to the construction of a new Jangam Station for the Dobongsan-Okjeong metropolitan railway project. Currently, Jangam Station operates as a temporary station located within the Dobongsan Depot at the terminus of Subway Line 7. Gyeonggi Province plans to demolish the current Jangam Station and construct a new one inside the depot in accordance with the Dobongsan-Okjeong metropolitan railway construction that will connect to Jangam Station.

During the demolition and reconstruction of Jangam Station, the province will maintain train operations by establishing a temporary Jangam Station. The temporary station will be built on a site next to the current station's entrance, and because test operations will be conducted before actual service begins, Jangam Station will be unavailable for approximately one month, the province explained.

Park Young-shin, head of Gyeonggi Province's Railway Construction Division, said, "This closure is an essential procedure to verify the safety of the temporary Jangam Station before demolishing the current station and proceeding with construction of the new one." He added, "We will cooperate with Seoul City and Seoul Metro to minimize the construction period and reduce inconvenience to passengers by operating free shuttle buses."

Meanwhile, the Dobongsan-Okjeong metropolitan railway is a single-line light rail project connecting 15.1 kilometers from Dobongsan Station in Seoul through Jangam Station and Tapsuk Station in Uijeongbu to Goeupji District in Yangju. Three stations will be established, with a total project cost of 893.5 billion won. As of the end of August 2026, the overall project completion rate is 62.44%.
