'Visiting Biennale'...Ceramic and Craft Culture Encounters Throughout Gyeonggi Province

The Gyeonggi Ceramic Biennale will showcase ceramic and craft culture beyond its major venues in Icheon, Gwangju, and Yeoju, presenting them throughout Gyeonggi Province in regional festivals and daily life.

The Korea Ceramic Foundation will operate the 'Gyeonggi Ceramic Culture Festival Development Support' and 'Gyeonggi Craft Week: Vibrant Crafts' projects from September 3rd to November 1st, in connection with the Gyeonggi Ceramic Biennale, allowing residents to encounter ceramics and crafts in their everyday surroundings.

Major events for Gyeonggi Ceramic Culture Festival Development Support include △The 2nd Yangju Ceramic Art Festival △Namyangju International Ceramic Art Festival: 'Ceramics Reflected in Water' △Gimpo Ceramic Festival: 'Art Blooming from Fire' △Goyang Ceramic Culture Festival △Jeongja-dong Play Ground Festival and others. Each event allows visitors to experience ceramic culture more intimately through hands-on experiences and cultural programs featuring local potters and residents.

Through public recruitment, the Korea Ceramic Foundation selected 17 organizations' events. The events will be held from September to November in connection with regional festivals throughout Gyeonggi Province, including Goyang, Gimpo, Dongducheon, Gapyeong, Yongin, Osan, Ansan, Suwon, Hwaseong, Anyang, Gwacheon, and Gunpo.

Key programs include △'Ceramics Embracing Makgeolli' in connection with Goyang's National Makgeolli Festival △'Modamsan Pottery School' at Gimpo's Joongbong Culture Festival △'Circular City Connected by Hand' at Yongin's Cheogin Fortress Culture Festival △'Youth Crafts Delight Created with Kkaosan' at Osan's Youth Festival △'Dancing Flowers, Blossoming Crafts' at Anyang's Dance Festival △'Performance Molded from Earth' in Gwacheon and others.

Ryu In-gwon, CEO of the Korea Ceramic Foundation, said, "'The Visiting Gyeonggi Ceramic Biennale' is meaningful in that it extends the cultural experience of the biennale beyond specific venues to various locations throughout Gyeonggi Province," adding, "We look forward to residents naturally encountering ceramics and crafts, and to enriching the region's cultural ecosystem through the process of local ceramic and craft practitioners and citizens creating together."
