Suwon Metropolitan City Holds Resident Briefing on R&D Science Park Land Compensation
Suwon Metropolitan City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) held a 'resident briefing on land compensation for the Suwon R&D Science Park development project' on the 27th at the main conference room of the Ipbuk-dong Administrative Welfare Center, providing residents with information on the project's progress and compensation procedures.
The briefing was attended by landowners and stakeholders within the Suwon R&D Science Park development project area.
An official from Suwon City's Development Administration Team provided information on the progress and schedule of the Suwon R&D Science Park development project and explained in detail the standards and procedures for land compensation (expropriation) based on the 'Act on the Acquisition and Compensation of Land, etc. for Public Interest Projects,' as well as the criteria for calculating compensation amounts. A question-and-answer session was held after the project briefing.
The Suwon R&D Science Park development project involves creating a research complex with cutting-edge technology on a 352,600 square meter site in the Ipbuk-dong area (cadastral number 484), Gwonseon-gu. The goal is to attract advanced research companies in artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, biotechnology, and other fields, positioning it as a 'global advanced R&D hub' leading the world.
The site will also feature public facilities including research and development facilities, university-industry cooperation centers, residential buildings for researchers and workers, neighborhood commercial facilities, and neighborhood parks. The plan is to create a work-live integrated environment where workplaces and residences are in close proximity.
In January, Suwon City designated the R&D Science Park development site as an urban development zone and announced the development plan. The city plans to announce approval of the implementation plan in May 2027 and carry out construction work from 2027 to 2030.
A Suwon City official stated, "We will provide accurate information to landowners to build consensus on the project promotion and proceed with compensation negotiations early," and added, "We will do our best to ensure the Suwon R&D Science Park development project proceeds smoothly."
