Yongin Office of Education Conducts Joint Safety Inspection of School Routes Ahead of Giheung Middle School Opening

The Yongin Office of Education has launched efforts to create safe commute routes to and from school, including Giheung Middle School, which opens on the 1st of next month, along with other schools in the jurisdiction that require improvements to their commuting environments.

The Yongin Office of Education is conducting joint on-site inspections of school surroundings and traffic conditions in cooperation with related agencies including Yongin Special City Government, Giheung-gu Office, Cheoin-gu Office, Yongin East Police Station, and the Korea Road Traffic Authority. The inspection was designed to allow relevant agencies to jointly examine school-requested improvements to commute routes and to identify and address potential hazards in advance.

On the first day of inspection, Giheung Middle School will be the focus of attention. Inspectors will examine the installation and operation status of traffic signals and surveillance cameras, whether sidewalks are separated from traffic, and crosswalk safety facilities, with plans to promptly address items requiring improvement through consultations with related agencies.

The office plans to subsequently conduct joint inspections of five schools within its jurisdiction that have requested improvements to their commute routes.

Jo Young-min, superintendent of the Yongin Office of Education, stated, 'Student safety is our top priority,' and added, 'We will create a safe commuting environment by reflecting the voices of school communities.'
