Traditional Korean Music Artist Nam Sang-il Appointed as Ambassador for 'Visit Suwon Year'
Suwon Special City has appointed traditional Korean music artist Nam Sang-il as ambassador for the '2026-2027 Visit Suwon Year' initiative.
Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon Special City presented an ambassador plaque to Nam Sang-il prior to the '2026 Suwon Hwaseong Three Major Festivals Promotion Plan Report Meeting' held in the City Hall conference room on the 15th.
Ambassador Nam Sang-il is a representative traditional Korean music artist who has been communicating the charm and value of Korean music in an accessible manner. Based on outstanding artistic capabilities and wide-ranging public recognition, he is actively communicating with the public.
Given his consistent efforts to promote traditional culture through Korean music, he is expected to play a role as an ambassador connecting the historicity of Suwon Hwaseong with various cultural tourism content in Suwon.
With the appointment of Ambassador Nam Sang-il, Suwon City plans to introduce the appeal of Suwon's history, culture, and tourism resources to more citizens and enhance the brand value of 'Suwon, a tourist city.'
Ambassador Nam Sang-il said, "I am pleased to take on the role of widely promoting the charm of Suwon, where traditional culture and history breathe with life, as a Suwon resident," and added, "I will make active efforts to promote Suwon not only in 2026-2027 but every year going forward so that it becomes Visit Suwon Year."
Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon stated, "Ambassador Nam Sang-il will be a great force in promoting Suwon's charm far and wide," and said, "We will make efforts to ensure more tourists visit Suwon and have enjoyable experiences here."
