Hwaseong Municipal Dubinnarae Children's Library Reopens on September 17 After Renovation
Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Chung Myung-geun) announced that Hwaseong Municipal Dubinnarae Children's Library has completed convenience facility improvements and renovation, and will reopen on the 17th with a fresh new look.
The Dubinnarae Children's Library, which opened in June 2009, has served for the past 17 years to meet the reading and cultural demands of local residents and has functioned as a learning and cultural space for children and families.
This renovation project was undertaken in accordance with the Hwaseong Library Development Master Plan (2024-2028) and the 2026 Gyeonggi Province Public Library Establishment Support Project. A total of 360 million won was invested, comprising 100 million won in provincial funding and 260 million won in city funding. Construction has been underway since July.
The city has made comprehensive improvements to the interior spaces and facilities of the library, increasing space utilization and making it more convenient for users to access the library.
First, the first-floor infant materials room has been reorganized into a more open space by integrating and expanding the existing space. The second floor has been restructured by converting the existing acquisitions preparation room into an English materials room and integrating it with the existing materials room to increase space utilization. The former third-floor English materials room has been newly created as a user lounge and cultural classroom, allowing citizens to enjoy reading, rest, and cultural activities together.
Additionally, the library has improved the deteriorated first-floor Bitoreeum staircase and renovated the overall user environment by replacing the lobby flooring, furniture, and heating and cooling equipment.
Mayor Chung Myung-geun of Hwaseong Special City stated, "I hope the newly renovated Dubinnarae Children's Library will become a learning space for children to develop knowledge and imagination, and a cultural space in daily life where citizens can enjoy reading, rest, and cultural activities together."
