Hwaseong City to Ensure Seamless Preparations for Successful Hosting of 2027 National Sports Festival

Hwaseong City (Mayor Jung Myung-keun) held a "National Sports Festival Hwaseong City Promotion Committee full meeting" on the 7th in the conference room on the 5th floor of Hwaseong City Hall.

This meeting was held to examine the citizen participation framework and strengthen the public-private cooperation system for the successful hosting of the 108th National Sports Festival in 2027 and the 47th National Sports Festival for the Disabled. In particular, Mayor Jung Myung-keun of Hwaseong City attended the meeting in person to encourage committee members and carefully review the status of preparation for the games.

Prior to the full meeting, Mayor Jung presented appointment certificates to newly joining committee members and encouraged members who are contributing efforts to the preparation of the National Sports Festival and the National Sports Festival for the Disabled.

Major agenda items included △sharing and discussion of achievements by the civic promotion committee (promotion committee) in the first half of 2026 △sharing of activity plans for the second half △organizational restructuring including establishment of new subcommittees and reallocation of personnel △promotion for ongoing recruitment of the civic promotion committee for the 2027 National Sports Festival △discussion on organizing citizen support groups and required budgets.

The "National Sports Festival Hwaseong City Promotion Committee" is a public-private cooperation body established in accordance with relevant ordinances for efficient operation of the civic promotion committee and deliberation and decision-making on various matters. Based on close cooperation, Hwaseong City and the civic promotion committee are carrying out various support activities across the entire preparation for the festival, including "support for game participation and hosting" and "support for citizen participation."

Mayor Jung Myung-keun of Hwaseong City stated, "The successful hosting of the 2027 National Sports Festival and the National Sports Festival for the Disabled can only be completed with not only the efforts of the administration but also the interest and active participation of Hwaseong citizens," and added, "Through this full meeting, I hope the promotion committee will serve as a hub in bringing together the capabilities of citizens, and the city will spare no effort in providing necessary support for a successful hosting of the games."

Following this, Civic Promotion Committee Chair Yi Nae-eung said, "Through this full meeting, we will look back together on the achievements of activities in the first half of the year, and in the second half, we will focus our efforts on organizing support groups and promotional activities so that citizens can experience the games more closely," and added, "By gathering the attention and participation of each and every committee member, we will make the 2027 National Sports Festival a successful event that all Hwaseong citizens can be proud of."
