26th Baekun Calligraphy and Literati Painting Exhibition Held Successfully

Uiwang City (Mayor Kim Sung-je) announced on the 23rd that the awards ceremony for the '26th Baekun Calligraphy and Literati Painting Exhibition,' hosted by the Uiwang Cultural Center, was held successfully in the auditorium on the 3rd floor of Uiwang Lifelong Learning Center.

The Baekun Calligraphy and Literati Painting Exhibition, now in its 26th year, is a representative traditional cultural and art event in Uiwang designed to inherit and develop traditional arts and expand the foundation of regional culture. The exhibition drew artists from across the nation in the fields of calligraphy, literati painting, and calligraphy, showcasing diverse works.

The submitted works expressed the beauty of traditional art based on powerful brushstrokes and profound lyrical aesthetics, while demonstrating the value of diverse creative works that harmonize tradition and modernity. Notably, participation by elementary, middle, and high school students increased noticeably, making this exhibition a meaningful opportunity for the younger generation to take interest in and participate in traditional cultural arts.

Winning works were selected through rigorous judging that comprehensively evaluated creativity, skill, work completion, and the value of preserving tradition. Winning works, including one grand prize, as well as excellence prizes, superior prizes, special selections, and honorable mentions, will be displayed at Uiwang Lifelong Learning Center until August 27.

Mayor Kim Sung-je stated, "I hope this competition becomes a valuable opportunity to shed new light on the beauty of calligraphy, literati painting, and calligraphy," adding, "Going forward, the city will continue to spare no support for the development of regional cultural and artistic activities."
