Ojeon-dong Residents' Autonomous Committee in Uiwang City Holds General Assembly and 'Morak Morak' Singing Contest
The Ojeon-dong Residents' Autonomous Committee in Uiwang City held the 'Ojeon-dong General Assembly' and 'Morak Morak Singing Contest' on the 22nd at the Uiwang Lifelong Learning Center to select neighborhood projects for the residents' autonomous community.
The general assembly is a venue for the realization of direct democracy where residents directly discuss and decide on major issues facing the neighborhood, and is one of the core activities of the residents' autonomous committee. The assembly proceeded actively with approximately 300 residents in attendance.
The Ojeon-dong Residents' Autonomous Committee conducted the main proceedings in the following order: reporting on 2026 project implementation status, announcing 2027 residents' autonomous plans, and disclosing resident voting results. Following this, the 'Morak Morak Singing Contest' was held as a result of the previous general assembly. On stage, 10 residents who advanced to the finals through preliminary rounds showcased their singing skills and brought great joy to the attendees.
The resident voting took place online and offline from August 10 to 20, with approximately 500 residents participating and demonstrating strong interest in Ojeon-dong's autonomous activities.
According to the voting results, the priority ranking for next year's Ojeon-dong Residents' Autonomous Committee neighborhood projects was determined as follows: △direct farm product happy marketplace △astronomical observation project △special experiential learning for elementary students △Morak Morak singing contest △Ojeon-dong SOS.
Yang Hong-geon, chairman of the residents' autonomous committee, said, "I sincerely thank all residents for taking interest and participating in the general assembly," and added, "I will do my best to ensure that the projects selected based on residents' valuable opinions are carried out without delay."
Ahn Chi-kwon, vice mayor of Uiwang City, said, "The neighborhood projects in Ojeon-dong greatly contribute to residents' harmony and regional development, and the general assembly is a driving force for creating a better Ojeon-dong to live in," and continued, "We will continue to provide full support so that the Ojeon-dong Residents' Autonomous Committee can engage in more active activities."
